Our Technology

We pride ourselves on using the latest technology to improve the delivery and experience of optometry. Here is some of the technology we use.

NIDEK OCT

OCT or ‘optical coherence tomography’ is an imaging technique that uses low-coherence light to capture micrometer-resolution, two- and three-dimensional images from within optical scattering media. It is used widely in optometry and ophthalmology.

It only takes a few minutes to complete a scan for both eyes. Our Nidek OCT helps our optometrists in diagnosing eye diseases such as macular degneration, glaucoma and it can also detect damage caused to the eyes by poorly controlled diabetes, high cholesterol and high bloor pressure.

MEDMONT TOPOGRAPHER

The Medmont Topographer creates a map of the front surface of the eye (the cornea). A corneal topography test provides detailed 3D maps of the cornea’s shape and curvature and allows us to determine overall corneal health.

It only takes a few minutes to complete a topography map for both eyes. The results allow our optometrists to fit complex contact lenses, monitor certain eye diseases and can also be used for Orthokeratology.

MEDMONT VISUAL FIELD ANALYSER

The Medmont Visual Field Analyser allows our Optometrists to check the extent of your peripheral vision. This is particularly important for certain drivers licence as well as monitoring the progression of certain eye diseases.

A typical visual field exam can take between 10-15 minutes for both eyes to be completed. The test is non-invasive and involves patients to respond to light targets of different size and intencity.
